In this course, we explore the anatomy of the lower face, focusing on the changes that occur with facial aging and their clinical manifestations. Discover the anatomy behind jowls and marionette lines through a detailed anatomic layer-by-layer dissection. Our session reveals underlying muscles including the depressor anguli oris, depressor labii inferioris, mentalis, and the platysma muscles. We also examine key neuro-vascular structures such as the inferior and superior labial arteries, marginal mandibular branch, facial artery, and facial vein, as well as the submandibular gland, deep mental fat pad, buccal fat pad (Bichat’s fat pad), and the parotid gland. This comprehensive dissection, specifically tailored towards fillers, will guide you in identifying the optimal planes and locations for injections to achieve the best results in lower facial treatments.
“In this dissection video I managed to demonstrate the mobility of the platysma which is crucial for understanding the formation of jowls.”
