This course offers an in-depth review of the muscles of mastication, with a special focus on the temporalis and masseter muscles and their adjacent bones. Through layered anatomic dissection, the course also examines relevant branches of the facial nerve and various branches of the external carotid artery. Knowing the depth of the muscles of mastication allows one to understand the depth of neuromodulator and soft tissue filler injections when treating bruxism or myofascial pain or when trying to increase the lateral projection of the mandibular angle. This course is relevant for all levels of learners but especially important for those who intend to utilise neuromodulators for facial treatments.
“The muscles of mastication are important for understanding how to treat bruxism and myofascial pain.”
