Neuromodulator Adverse Events – Platysma Muscle

Targeting the platysma muscle with neuromodulators for increasing jawline contouring or for reducing the severity of platysmal bands is standard practice to date. Even though the injection techniques seem straightforward, adverse events such as difficulty flexing the neck and dysphagia can occur. To enhance the understanding of how to avoid such suboptimal clinical outcomes, the anatomy of the neck is demonstrated through a detailed layer-by-layer dissection. This video also simulates both correct and incorrect injection techniques to provide a clearer understanding of the Do’s and Don’ts for neuromodulator treatments of the platysma muscle.

Words from the instructor

“The crucial cervical structures are altogether located deep to the platysma, therefore, there is only one correct plane for the administration of neuromodulators in the neck: superficial!”
