In this course, you will explore the platysma muscle, which is the largest muscle of facial expression. Discover its basic anatomy, including its soft tissue plane, extent, and connections to the bone and other facial muscles such as the modiolus and depressor labii inferioris. Learn about the layer in which the platysma is located and how its mobility affects different facial areas. The course also addresses the formation of jowls, explaining how changes in the platysma contribute to their appearance and worsening. An anatomic dissection clip of the platysma muscle is included to provide a detailed visual reference, enhancing your understanding of its structure and functional relationships specifically for neuromodulator treatments.
“This muscle is considered a muscle of facial expression even though it is located in the neck (the reason is embryology).”
