Neuromodualtor Treatments: Masseter Hypertrophy

Neuromodualtor Treatments: Masseter Hypertrophy

Red background

Overview

Targeting the masseter muscle with neuromodulators enables injectors to treat muscle hypertrophy, bruxism, and myofascial pain. However, all of these clinical indications need to be well explored and combined with the underlying anatomy. Independent if a 1-, 3-, or 5-point injection approach is selected, anatomy is key. This video provides a comprehensive clinical and anatomic review of this specific muscle and of the injection site which empowers injectors toward safer procedures.

Treatment type: Neuromodulators

Facial region: Lateral Midface

Approach: Needle Injection Technique

Competency Level: Competent

Course duration: 13 minutes

Course type: Injection simulation on a human body donor performed by Prof. Sebastian Cotofana

Learning Objectives

  • Describe the anatomy of the lateral midface, including the masseter and risorius muscles.
  • Identify key bony landmarks such as the angle of the mandible and zygomatic arch.
  • Apply neuromodulator techniques to treat masseter hypertrophy related to bruxism.
  • Determine optimal injection points, dosages, and appropriate needle selection.
  • Differentiate injection strategies for the masseter versus the temporalis muscle.
