Hands-On Facial Anatomy Dissection Course

On May 29 2025, we will host a hands-on facial anatomy dissection course led by Professor Cotofana. This one-day intensive cadaver workshop will take attendees on an anatomical journey of the face from skin to bone. Professor Cotofana will lead the course by providing in-depth anatomy reviews of each facial region via his cadaver dissection and will also incorporate his latest research findings into his teaching.

Educational Objectives

Heightened understanding of the anatomy of all facial areas with an emphasis on patient safety and outcome.

Appreciation of the three-dimensional perspectives of vital structures with a close look at all facial layers.

Traditional and advanced injection techniques for treatment of the full face with fillers, toxins, and biostimulators.

Learn to identify, prevent and manage complications.

Learn how to best apply lifting and volumizing treatment strategies.

Learn about basic ultrasound imaging and the relationship to anatomy and clinical injections.

The course will also incorporate ultrasound basics which will be led by Dr. Mariana Calomeni. Dr. Tapan Patel will then demonstrate injection techniques for toxins and fillers. In groups of 4 per specimen, participants will dissect cadavers to identify vital structures, with an emphasis on facial vasculature, nerves, fat compartments. Attendees will be given the opportunity to replicate injection techniques with both needle and cannula on the cadaver specimens and to understand the anatomy both from the specimen as well as when visualized by facial ultrasound.
